Spring Mommies

Spring is in the air, and things will soon be blooming. It’s a time for kittens, flowers and happy babies. Those old-wives tales may be right after all. Spring babies may be happier. A recent study by researchers at Semmelweis University at Budapest found that people born in springtime were more likely to have a “hyperthymic temperament,” a characteristic associated with being very positive. According to lead researcher Xenia Gonda, biochemical studies show birth during sunny Spring can influence certain monoamine neurotransmitters, such as dopamine and serotonin, which is detectable even in adult life. So we thought we would catch up with a few Spring mommy-to-be’s to see what’s blooming. My name is Jessica Dicus. My boyfriend, Logan Carr, and I are both 21 years old. We grew up in Ironton. We both love music, and Logan likes playing video games. I play piano as a hobby. Logan is an auto body technician for American Metal Restoration and I work at Startek as a chat agent for Charter. We’re both SO excited about our baby girl! I’m nervous about labor but can’t wait to have her! We are naming her Aurora Jade Carr.

My name is Abby Kimrey. My husband and I have been married for almost three years (although we were high school sweethearts). Currently, I am a 2nd-grade teacher at East Elementary in Jackson, while he is an Assistant Vice President at Midwest Regional Bank in Festus. We had our first child, Walter Thomas, on October 28, 2016. All three of us are now excited to welcome our little “Sweet P” Polly Marie.Although we are super excited for her arrival, we are still nervous about what life will be like with two little ones under two. Especially since Walter has kept us so busy – we feel like we haven’t had as much time to prepare as we did with Walter. The strangest thing about this pregnancy is that up until recently, we kept forgetting that another baby was coming along. We know it’ll rock our world! As far as what I’m thinking… I’m overflowing with different emotions. I’m so excited to have a little girl of my own, but I’m still as nervous as could be! My pregnancy with Walter was nearly all smooth sailing. This pregnancy has been quite a bit harder, so it leaves me a little more nervous about our delivery day. We are already blaming it on her presumably sassy personality.

My name is Allie Hollinsworth. Our family is crazy! I have a fiancé, Mike, my soon to be step daughter, Kyleigh, our cat, KiKi, and our two dogs, Kevin & Simba. Between all of them, we are always on the go! Mike owns a landscaping/lawn care business and is also a full-time firefighter, so he’s gone working 24-hour shifts. Kyleigh is in preschool, but she will be starting kindergarten this year and currently is in dance class every week. I stay home, run the house and chaos as best as I can while preparing for my Spring baby! When I found out I was pregnant it was definitely a surprise because we had been trying for so long. When I took a test, I figured it would be negative just like all the others. Only to my surprise, it was positive. I told Mike the same day by putting the news inside a Krispie Kreme box filled with donuts.I was very excited but more in shock. I had hoped for so long to become a mommy, and my dream was finally coming true. I, like all expectant mothers, immediately started thinking about all the Mommy things. Baby stuff, names, wall colors… It drove Mike crazy running all my crazy thoughts by him! Now being a little over a month away from my due date, I am even more excited but also very impatient (not a good trait of mine). I see everyone having their babies, and I know that I’m so close to seeing our baby. So for that reason, I’m cherishing the last bit of my pregnancy. We are having a girl; her name is going to be Madalynn Rhaye. I had narrowed down names for Mike to choose from and it was between Lillian or Madalynn, and he chose Madalynn. I’m spelling it differently because my middle name is Lynn and her middle name is a combination of my mother’s middle name and my soon to be mother-in-law’s first name – Rhonda” and “Faye.” A lot of the kids from my dad’s side of the family have two middle names, so I figured by combining them I could put less stress on her for when she learns her name one day!CLICK HERE TO READ MORE AND SEE MORE PICS
